The van-tastic Caravan & Outdoor Expo rolls into Nambour and safety is top of the agenda!

The biggest caravanning event on the Sunshine Coast will return to the Nambour Showgrounds with over 90 exhibitors

2023 Let’s Go Sunshine Coast Caravan & Outdoor Expo

Caravanning Queensland’s 2023 Let’s Go Sunshine Coast Caravan & Outdoor Expo, brought to you by myCOOLMAN, is rolling into the Nambour Showgrounds for three days from Friday, August 18 to Sunday, August 20.

The annual caravan industry event will feature over 90 exhibitors showcasing the latest caravans, camper trailers, motorhomes and camping accessories and is sure to be a must-attend outing for all caravanning enthusiasts.

In response to the tragic loss of 23 lives on Sunshine coast roads due to reckless driving in 2022, a new program has been added to the Expo with the aim to raise the awareness and education of road safety for Sunshine Coast adventurers.

In what was a devastating year for road fatalities, according to Queensland Police, nine out of 10 vehicles towing caravans were found to be exceeding their weight limit last year¹ which prompted Queensland’s peak industry body Caravanning Queensland to shine a spotlight on road safety by offering up complimentary sessions to talk all things safety.

Jason Plant, CEO of Caravan Trade and Industries Association of Queensland comments the data alone demonstrates the need for safety programs in regional locations such as the Sunshine Coast.

“There is no better time to visit the Sunshine Coast Caravan and Outdoor Expo and attend the free Weight and Towing Masterclasses to educate themselves on safe caravanning practices to head off on their next holiday adventures safely, compliantly, and confidently.

The Weight and Towing Masterclasses held by experts, Jeff Palmer (Tow-Ed), Gary Gardiner (Total Towing Setups) and Dave Lewis (Weightcheck) are running three sessions per day to talk all things safety. The 12:00 pm session will call on audience volunteers to test their weight knowledge by loading up the demo caravan to a compliant weight.

A great day out for the whole family with something for everyone the family can rest their laurels and catch the daily popular demonstration of the Walkabout Working Dogs where the whole family can watch a team of Working Border Collies and Working Kelpies interpret instructions from their handlers to round up the herd.

Or if camp oven cooking lights your campfire, entertaining Bush Cook Ranger Nick will be giving daily demonstrations whilst regaling crowds with bush poetry, yarns and ballads and sharing his best camping in the bush recipes.

Major Prize

One lucky visitor to this year’s Expo will win a 5-night stay in a waterfront campsite (unpowered) for up to 4 guests at Habitat Noosa Everglades Eco Camp valued at RRP $470.00.

Gates will be open from 9:00am to 5:00pm on Friday and Saturday, and 9:00am to 4:00pm on Sunday.

With plenty of parking available onsite, there’s no excuse for locals not to head on down to the Nambour Showgrounds for a fun-filled, family day out at Caravanning Queensland’s Sunshine Coast Caravan & Outdoor Expo!
